วันจันทร์ที่ 10 มิถุนายน 2562 เวลา 13.00 น. คณะนิเทศศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จัดแถลงข่าว "การประชุม Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) ประจำปีครั้งที่ 27 ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นที่จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในวันที่ 17-19 มิถุนายน 2562 ภายใต้แนวคิด Communication, Technology and New Humanism

อาจารย์ ดร. เจษฎา ศาลาทอง ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดี งานด้านวิรัชกิจ เป็นผู้ดำเนินรายการและกล่าวต้อนรับสื่อมวลชนและผู้เข้าร่วมงาน โดยศาสตราจารย์ ดร. พิรงรอง รามสูต รองอธิการบดี กำกับดูแลด้านการสื่อสารบริการสังคมและพันธกิจสากลได้กล่าวถึงที่มาของการจัดการประชุมวิชาการ พร้อมทั้งแนะนำ Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) ซึ่งเป็นองค์กรเอกชนระหว่างประเทศ ที่มุ่งเน้นพัฒนาการสื่อสารในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก AMIC ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี พ. ศ. 2514 เพื่อส่งเสริมคุณภาพการสื่อสารที่มีความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก และในปีนี้ประเทศไทยและจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยได้รับเลือกให้เป็นเจ้าภาพการประชุมใหญ่ประจำปี

ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. ปาริชาต สถาปิตานนท์ คณบดีคณะนิเทศศาสตร์ บรรยายภาพรวมของการประชุมและหัวข้อที่จะมีการอภิปรายภายในงาน อาทิเช่น การสื่อสารกับเทคโนโลยี และมนุษยนิยมใหม่ การสื่อสารสิทธิมนุษยชนและประชาธิปไตย การทำความเข้าใจในทฤษฎีมนุษยนิยม: ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ หุ่นยนต์ & Dataism; เพศสภาพกับสื่อ และการสื่อสารอย่างมีสติ สำหรับรายชื่อนักวิชาการด้านการสื่อสารชั้นนำที่เข้าร่วมการประชุม ได้แก่ Dr. Eddie Kuo (SIM University, Singapore), Prof. Tapio Varis (University of Tampere, Finland), Dr. Wimal Dissanayake (University of Hawaii), Dr. Ronny Adhikarya (ex-Manager, The World Bank), Dr. Jack Lunchuan Qiu (University of Hongkong, China).

อาจารย์ ดร.ธีรดา จงกลรัตนาภรณ์ รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและวิรัชกิจ อธิบายรายละเอียดของการประชุมทั้ง 3 วัน โดยหัวข้อทั้งหมดที่จะถูกบรรยาย และอภิปรายกลุ่มย่อยนั้น ล้วนแต่เป็นประเด็นที่เข้ากับกระแสการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วในสังคมปัจจุบัน นอกจากนั้นแล้วในพิธีปิดงาน AMIC จะประกาศรางวัล Asia Communication Award 2019 และส่งมอบการเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุม AMIC จากจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยไปยังมหาวิทยาลัยการสื่อสารแห่งประเทศจีน (Communication University of China)

AMIC Press Conference

On Monday, 10 June 2019, the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University held a press conference announcing the 27th AMIC Annual Conference 2019, which will take place at Chulalongkorn University on 17-19 June, under the theme ‘Communication, Technology, and New Humanism’.

The press conference was attended by media professionals and university scholars, and was hosted by Dr Jessada Salathong, Assistant to the President for International Affairs. Professor Dr Pirongrong Ramasoota, Vice President for Social Outreach and Global Engagement gave an introduction to the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC), which is an international non-government organization (NGO) mandated to spearhead communication media development in the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1971, AMIC promotes a free and socially responsible communication media sector in Asia Pacific. It is now based in Manila, Philippines. And this year Thailand and Chulalongkorn University have been selected as the host of the premier annual conference.

Professor Dr Parichart Sthapitanonda, Dean of Faculty of Communication Arts gave an overview of the conference and topics which will be discussed including Communication, Technology, and New Humanism; Communication, Human Rights, and Democracy; Understanding Post-humanism: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, & Dataism; Gender and Media; and Mindful Communication. Among the leading communication scholars and practitioners who have confirmed their participation in the conference are Dr. Eddie Kuo (SIM University, Singapore), Prof. Tapio Varis (University of Tampere, Finland), Dr. Wimal Dissanayake (University of Hawaii), Dr. Ronny Adhikarya (ex-Manager, The World Bank), Dr. Jack Lunchuan Qiu (University of Hongkong, China).

The details of the 3-day conference were given by Dr. Teerada Chongkolrattanaporn, Deputy Dean for Research and International Affairs. All of the topics discussed during the different plenary and parallel sessions are expected to be groundbreaking as well as inspiring. The event will conclude in an announcement of the winner of the 2019 AMIC Asia Communication Award and Ceremonial Turnover of key to host AMIC Conference - From Chulalongkorn University to Communication University of China.
