About Department
The Department of Journalism originated alongside the establishment of the Department of Mass Communication and Public Relations, offering a major in Newspaper Studies under the broader field of Mass Communication and officially established as the Department of Journalism in 1974. In 1995, Thai name of the Department of Journalism was renamed from “ภาควิชาการหนังสือพิมพ์” (Newspaper) to “ภาควิชาวารสารสนเทศ” (Journalism) to reflect the transition toward digital media and the emerging information society. Currently, the department offers 1 major: Journalism and New Media.
The
Journalism and New Media
major focuses on information science, print media, and information communication, covering areas such as information gathering, fact-finding, writing, analysis, and communication — as well as media management and content production across all online platforms.Head of the Department (Acting)
