About Department
The Department of Speech Communication and Performing Arts was established alongside the founding of the Faculty of Communication Arts in 1974. It offers 2 fields of study: Speech Communication and Performing Arts. The Speech Communication field emphasizes both theory-based and project-based learning, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge through practical, public-facing projects. The curriculum integrates various interdisciplinary subjects, professional internships, and speech-related projects. Graduates from this field are equipped for careers in public speaking, speechwriting and rhetorical creativity, speech event management, and human resource development.
The Performing Arts field focuses on studying and understanding performance communication as it appears both on stage (Stage Production) and in media (Media Production). This program is ideal for students who are passionate about acting, creativity, and teamwork, as it emphasizes collaboration in creating performance works. Graduates are well-prepared for a wide range of careers, including actor, director, assistant director, casting director, acting coach, or instructor in performing arts in private or academic institutions.
